The VALERU consortium consists of an initiative group of Higher Education Institutions in Russia and the EU, dedicated to the topic of LifeLong Learning, recognition of prior learning and work based learning. The development of the consortium was based on contacts and cross linked approaches of each partner, trying to bring together expertise and perspectives relevant for the topic of VALERU. There are several links between the partners: Between both, Russian and European partners, several forms of joint collaboration during the last decade exist, providing a solid ground for joint and trustful cooperation in a framework like Tempus. This touches active membership within the university network EUCEN or collaboration at institutional level.
